X has had many incarnations over the years: a long running manga series, a truly incredibly music video for X Japan and a well known Rintaro movie (X/1999). Now comes the television series, taking aspects from all the aforementioned and creating something new that both fans and non-fans should be able . . .

People using Software-based DVD Players may experience some interlacing (especially if doing NTSC -> PAL conversion), common in most "Digital Anime"s.
While this series is very interesting, it just isn't very enjoyable to watch. The main characters are very likeable, the action is cool, and the overall plot compelling. The problem is that there are so many episodes that are boring and end up being meaningless in the end.
There are many drama/action animes which I love (NOIR,LAIN,etc.) While this anime tries hard to be dramatic the characters (except for a few exceptions) don't draw you into the story. The action is sometimes interesting, though heavy-handed, but also can be just a lot of running away and name-calling.

Story: If you saw the movie "X", and enjoyed it thoroughly, this set is most likely not for you. It is commonly said that the movie is for the short-attention span, and the series for the one who wants to entire saga. And a saga it is. This set is the complete series, including Episode 0: Omen, a prequal which has no real baring on the plot. The story is magnificently dark and the art is just what you expect from CLAMP: Equally beautiful and violent.
Enjoyability: Definatly enjoyable, mainly because it follows the manga so closely. One can nearly hold up the manga and see the plot unfold, line by line, side by side. Buy the manga, too.
Characters: Moody and brooding Kamui and gentle Kotori and Fuma are brilliant foils of eachother. The Dragons of the Heaven and Dragons of the Earth seem all unlikely, but this only adds to the irony of the story.
Video: Perfect FX Rip. Yes, I mean perfect . The Menu is (I'm assuming) the same as the officials, and definatly the best I've seen. Not a trace of compression with these babies.
Sound: Equally as brilliant as the video. Again, not a trace of compression, and undoubtedly ripped from officials. For those who are a little picky on dub voices, this series is only so-so, with some very well-acted voices (Wendee Lee as Karen, and Kamui's voice) and some that are not as well acted (Sorata... bleh.).
Subtitle: It's FX, people. FX builds it reputation on perfect, flawless subtitles. Expect nothing less from this series: they're practically better than those thirty-bucks-for-three eps discs.
