Legend of Galactic Heroes isn't your typical animated fair. The closest analogy I can come up with a 52 hour version of the film "The Longest Day." It tells the story of the war between the Reich Empire and the Free Alliance of Plants, which has already raged for over 150 years. Unlike similar war stories, . . .

Reinhard Von Lohengramm and Siegfried Kircheis, two of the top Admirals in the Empire.

Oscar von Rhuentahl and Wolfgang Mittermeyer, Lohengramm's top subordinates. Keep an eye on them.

Paul von Oberstien, Lohengramm's advisor. He's got robotic eyes, and they always look cold and dead.

This is Yang Wen-Li, the hero of El Facile, the best strategist in the Free Planets.

This is one of the ships. Don't they look a little.... anatmoical?

This is a veiwscreen of a major battle. You see these a lot while the fleet commanders discuss strategy.

This is an excellent DVD of a great series. Unfortunately I purchased the LOGH part 2 from another website and it had compatability problems on my DVD players and very bad timing on the 2nd disk. To my surprise there are no such problems here.

I was really surprised at the quality of these discs. I bought this hesitantly, since I had much of this fansubbed on tape, but, I'm not disappointed in the least. The video quality is clear, the subtitles are good - no engrish that I saw. While I did notice some differences between the fansub's and theses DVDs translations, it wasn't a big deal and didn't amount to much. I'm very happy to replace my fansubs with these, and can hardly wait for the rest of the episodes to find their way onto disc.
