Description
Kujo Jotaro is a normal, popular Japanese high-schooler, until he thinks that he is possesed by a spirit, and locks himself in prison. After seeing his grandfather, Joseph Joestar, and fighting Joseph's friend Muhammad Abdul, Jotaro learns that the "Sprirt" is actually Star Platinum, his Stand, or fighting energy given a semi-solid form. Later, his mother gains a Stand, and becomes sick. Jotaro leanrs that it is because the vampire Dio Brando has been revived 100 years after his defeat to Jonathan Joestar, Jotaro's great-great-grandfather.   Story: This has to be on eof the most original premises yet. It revolves around a group of men who have the ability to summon spirit warriors they are bonded with and use them to battle wether for good or evil. This si a fast paced series that never lets up from the start. The open is like a mini background movie which lets you know just how awesome this show is gonna be from then on out. If you like action on a supernatural level this will be your favorite series. You'll wish it was lots longer. Enjoyability: This series rules!! No love and only some comedy from time to time it is mostly a dark action packed thrill ride. You will be amazed at the "bizzare adventures" this show takes you on. It truly does have a flavor all its own and once you taste it you'll be hooked. Charachters: You will love all of the charachters in this series. You have every personality ttype covered here and you will find yourself attached to each one. The "stands" or spirit warriors are so cool! You'll wish they would stay around all the time instead of when summoned. Each one has a special look and style about it that makes it hard to say which one is the coolest. They are color based in name so maybe if you have a favorite color it'll make it easier. I loved them all which is rare indeed. Video: This is a dark series but the discs were clear and bright where needed. No distortion or problems to report in any way. The action is fast but you'll easily be able to follow it on these quality dvds. Sound: The sound comes across as it should on these dvds. No popping crackling or anything to get in the way of you enjoying this show. The music has a dark melodic feel to it that will draw you deeper into JOJO's world. No fading in and out or volume changes at all. Subtitle: I must say the subtitles here sucke dbig time. A lot of direct or poorly translated areas make it hard to follow at times. If your used to this type of thing get these dvds. If you like to have an easy time following a story then don't. For the most part you can assume what they meant but is some parts you will be scratching your head. I was able to interperet enough to understand the story for the most part so its a judgement call. The show is good enough to be worth the effort.

As a big fan of the original Jojo anime, I was eager to view this "prequel." Sadly, it doesn't live up to the first story. The first episode is really cool, and it does explain a lot, but each subsequent episode is less interesting. Not helping matters any, the subtitles are poorly written with confusing grammar. Also, I had similar video problems as a previous reviewer mentioned. Frankly, with a professional R1 edition coming soon, I can't recommend this package, even if you're a rabid Jojo fan.

As far as this goes for a synopsis: Basically it's the prequel to Jojo's Bizzare adventure. It helps to explain the follow-up episodes of the series, the character's psychic-powers called Stands and basically why the series exists. The DVD quality is excellent as well as the sound. I played both discs on my PS2 and XBOX with no problems. And navigating the menus is no problem. As a Jojo fan, I read the Jojo FAQ online to help clear up most the things I didn't know, so it wasn't a problem to follow the course of the story(I'll get to that in a second). However, one glaring issue in contrast to the other Jojo series is the quality of the subtitles. !!!!Horrible ENGRISH!! After the first CD, which uses a somewhat annoying letter font, the ENGRISH gets progessivley bad until the last episode of Disc #2, which seems like the original fansubber took over for the guy who messed it up in the first place. As far as I know, this DVD set is set for an American release so unless you have to have this DVD right now as a rabid Jojo fan, I suggest you wait, but get the other Jojo's bizzare adventure DVD set. It's well worth the purchase.

Very good overall except the subbing kind of sucks. Has engrish throughout, but overall understandable, but annoying none the less. I didn't buy mine from here, but i had a problem on one disc where it would just go back to the title screen. It happened on more than one player. To get by this I skipped to next next chapter and rewinded back to right before it restarts. Probably just my copy though. Not bad if you like the game or manga and cant wait for a US release, whenever that may be.
